East York Soccer Club News

April 4, 2020 – To the 2020 Outdoor House League Participants

We hope everyone is keeping well during this difficult time and appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this challenging period.

Please be assured that the East York Soccer Club will do everything possible to ensure that an Outdoor Season takes place in 2020. We are keenly aware that we have approximately 1,700 young players who are eager to play this Season.

When Ontario Soccer allows for soccer participation to start, and the City of Toronto and School Boards open the fields, we will react quickly to get play started as we are working to have various schedule options ready.

If the season does start late (Mayor Tory has closed all fields until June 30th) we will be asking for your patience as we finalize scheduling for the season. With a possible July 2nd approximate start, we may have to schedule games in a shorter period of time to allow for the Season to end somewhat later in September.

Once again. all the best and we look forward to seeing you at the fields asap.

Due to the possible late start, if the Season moves forward, please be advised that consideration for participation will be strictly limited to those players already registered at that time. The only additional registrations which might be accepted would be to fill rosters for teams, as might be needed.

Please register your child to be guaranteed a spot.

Registrations are still available online:

In the event the 2020 Outdoor Season is fully cancelled under direction of the applicable governing authorities, the East York Soccer Club Executive and Board of Directors will render a suitable decision as to the player registration fees received.

Please be advised that the office is currently closed, to allow for ‘social distancing’ and other such government required protocols.

Best wishes, Dragan Zagar, President, East York Soccer Club

COVID-19 Steps

Due to the stringent requirements of the various levels of Government together with the directive from our Governing Body, Ontario Soccer, The East York Soccer Club Board of Directors have accordingly suspended all “on-field” activities for all East York Soccer Club programs until at least April 30, 2020.

This directed measure is in the best interest for the safety and health of all individuals be they players, team officials, staff, parents and other family members, while we all face uncertainty in the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

This suspension includes ALL games, practices or team events during this time frame.

It is the club’s expectation that programming will be able to resume, with some variation to programming timelines to continue to provide value to our customers, upon such notification from Ontario Soccer.

Further updates, once provided by Ontario Soccer, will be provided to our Members over the coming weeks, including the anticipated measures relating to schedules, etc. that the club will undertake given this hiatus so that programming can hopefully resume in an orderly fashion.
